Dear Ms. Hathaway,
I am one of the thousands of volunteer editors at the English-language Wikipedia, where I write articles on various music-related topics. I received your contact information from Cornelius Boots of the Edmund Welles bass clarinet quartet.
I noticed that the article about Edmund Welles has no photo, so I wrote to the band's website and Cornelius wrote back saying that you'd taken a very nice black-and-white photo of the group on June 2007, and sent along a .jpg for me to look at. I'm a big fan of bass clarinet, and having the photo there would be really great, as the image of four people with this fairly unusual instrument is so interesting.
The article is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmund_Welles
In order to use the photo at Wikipedia, we'd need to upload it to Wikipedia under a "free content" license, such as the GFDL or Creative Commons. This allows anyone who finds the photo at Wikipedia to use it for any purpose (including educational, commercial, or any other use), although it would be stipulated that you always be credited as the photographer, and a link be made to your website.
Here's an example of a food photo I obtained permission for, so you can see how the license is done:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Rollatini.jpg
And the page it's used on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollatini
Would you please let me know if you would be amenable to this? (All you'd need to do is send an email back to me saying "this sounds good to me" or something like that.) Wikipedia is now the 8th most visited website in the world, so your photo should get a lot of views!
Many thanks for your consideration, and best,
--
