From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edmund Hamer Broadbent (1861-1945) born in Lancashire, England, was a christian missionary and author. He operated under the auspices of the Plymouth Brethren movement. [1]

His missionary work took him to Austria, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Poland, Russia and Turkey. He spoke fluent French and German and could speak some Russian. [2]

His book, The Pilgrim Church, first published in 1931 is still in print. The book was a result of extensive research, and it was the first to document the history of the Christian church from the time of the apostles.

He fathered eight children by his wife Dora.
