Canadian-Bacon (talk ยท contribs) I've been around for a few months now, and I've been looking at the idea of adminship, as well as wondering if it's worth contributing more than my present manner. For the most part I've engaged in anti-vandalism work, and as part of this I'd like to see if diversifying my work is worthwhile, or if I should stay to a more specialized task Canadian-Bacon 08:10, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Reviews
- You're a fantastic vandal fighter to the likes of User:Omicronpersei8. I also like your sense of judgement, and you would be a good arbitrator. However, if you're going for adminship, you'll have to do some expansion. Work more with images, and make some more substantial edits. Also, I suggest that you participate more with Xfd's, and AFD's, especially if adminship is a goal (I make the AFD's an imperative priority). Some more Talk edits would also be appreciated. These are my thoughts, I may have suggested some things that you object to, or something that is out of your nature. Still, I ask that you consider my review. Good job with Wikipedia, you are very sound. bibliomaniac15 02:14, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review, and yes I know that I really do need to do more AFD, it's just been proving a much harder habit to get into than the normal RCPatrol. Anyways I will take what you said into account, thanks. Canadian-Bacon 08:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I see vandalism fighting as a route to demonstrating sound judgment. My philosophy is "to each their own" and I think if you can judge what is vandalism and what is editing conflict, you have the temperament for XfD. Sure, they require different skills, but I wish there were more specialists in adminship so they can do what they care for most more effectively. Xiner 18:16, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- Your work and reputation for fighting vandals is almost legendary. Bibliomaniac really covered the bases... I suggest you frequent the WP:FP page more often. I personally send though almost every Admin request for those users who have extensive WP:Village Pump experience. Wikipedia Admins are good vandal fighters, yes, but they also need extensive experience in Wikipedia policy, something which a large number of admins sorely lack. Questions
- Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- As far as mainspace contributions go, I don't have much to bank on. I like the work I've done to Jay Peak, and Barrhaven. My mediation of Keith Locke, and ongoing mediation of Exetel are more non-conventional sources of pride. However the vast majority of work I do is anti-vandalism, of which I am very proud.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- As far as edit conflicts go, I've found myself fairly lucky. The largest conflict I can mention would be a minor dispute over the deletion of content on Newgrounds with User:Mackan. I left a message on his talk page requesting that he take the views of others into consideration, though he explained that he believed that his moves were correct by WP policies. I decided that it wasn't worth starting a conflict over and left him to do what he would.
