Edith Anthrope (also known as Ms.Anthrope) is a fictional character in the Captain Underpants series.

Like all the teachers in Jerome Horwitz Elementary School, she is not very nice. She is the school secretary.Her name is a pun on the word,'misanthrope'. One possible reason why Ms. Anthrope is so nasty is because she continuously is made fun of by students and staff about her belly button, which is shown to be an outie in Book 4, Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants, when she wears a crop top on a school field trop. Her usual way of hiding her belly button is by covering it with clothing, which has little effect, since her belly button sticks out so much that it is very visible even underneath the clothing. She is probably so hateful toward George and Harold for the sole purpose that, in every comic book they made with her in it, they purposely drew a bulging outie belly button to further humiliate her.

When Ms.Anthrope came into the staff room with the other teachers,the fan was turned on and the paste came onto their bodies and she screamed.

When Mr.Krupp was in Melvin's body,he demanded a cup of coffee from Ms.Anthrope.She got annoyed and along with the other people whom Mr.Krupp annoyed while inside Melvin's body,she chased him at the end of Book 7.
