[edit] Summary

Edgardo Mortara is on the right; his mother is seated. I don't know who the other man is; I think it may be his brother. I suspect this photograph may have been taken in about 1880. It appeared in a program distributed to audiencee members at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. The Guthrie's Librarian and Literary Specialist, Jo Holcomb, wrote to me in an email:

> Your inquiry concerning the photograph of Edgardo Mortara has been > referred to me for response. The photograph was part of an exhibit > sponsored by the Center for Contemporary Jewish Documentation in Milan. > We contacted the center several time with regard to the source of the > photograph and have never received a response.
