It seems to me that it would make more sense to merge this article with the Mauritania article rather than having the two seperated.

Not at all. Every country has an economy article. This allows more precise categorisation of the content. CalJW 15:29, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

I wasn't aware of that, but someone informed me on the Mauritania Talk page. So far the consensus there page seems to be that it would be appropriate to add a short overview of the economy to the Mauritania page. scotsboyuk 20:15, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
