Images of Florida
Bravo Zulu on photographing historic sights in Florida. Really exceptional work. Thanks! FieldMarine (talk) 19:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- And a Shaka Zulu to you! Sorry, best I could come up with on short notice. :) I do enjoy the photographing and the driving itself, and hey, at least it gets me away from the computer. 'Course after each trip, I'm stuck at the computer for days sorting and uploading them. Anyway, if you have any requests, you can add them to my list I use to keep track of all that stuff. Happy days! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 19:37, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Portal remove from NRHP template
Hi Ebyabe -- Would you please request reversal of the Portal addition to the NRHP template, and then we can discuss the Portal and the Template on the Talk page of WP:NRHP. I directly asked User talk:Happy-melon‎, who had implemented the change in response to your prior edit-protected request, to remove it, but he seems to be refusing to do so. Please ask that it be removed. doncram (talk) 23:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I asked. I didn't think it would cause a ruckus, honest. Maybe adding it to the template was premature. But as is, the portal is already as good as some out there. Oh, when the shortcut is removed from the template, could the portal be restored, please? It's been languishing in my userspace for ages, and if that's the only place it'll get worked on, I'm afraid it will languish even longer.
- Btw, I shan't be available again until at least Sunday. I'm going to St. Augustine tomorrow. Going to get shots of 6 NHLs (incl. an NHL district, the town itself), both National Monuments, and as many NRHPs as I can get. And a food and music festival. Hope this all gets sorted out once I return. Happy days! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 23:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Old Lakeland High School
Hi, I see that you created this article and then merged it into Lakeland High School. In MHO, it can stand on its own and gets lost in the bigger article. What are your thought on recreating it and leaving a small section in LHS with a not to see Main Article? Thanks again for all your many kindnesses. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 01:29, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Did I? I can't remember that far back. :) It could probably be separated, since the building itself is notable as an NRHP.
- And thank you for taking so many of the little stubbies I made and pictures I took and making something of them. It's why I made them; I figure it's easier to expand something existing than to create it from scratch.
- I do need to get back to Lakeland, too. I took all those photos with the crappy disposable camera. It'll take a good part of a day to cover the place appropriately. I know of two people (you and another) who have interest in stuff there. You have interest in one architect, and he in a different one, who has a number of his designed buildings here. So maybe that should be my next trip. :)
- Oh, I did get some shots of the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. It was closed, so I got what I could thru the gates. Pretty place. I'll let ya know when they're uploaded. I know I'll be going back this time next year at least, since I really like "Taste of St. Augustine". Mayhaps sooner? Who knows. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 00:47, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
New Project
Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Work in progress, Fictional places of Eddings, would you help
Hello Ebyabe...Would you be interested in helping with an article/list about the fictional places of the works of the Eddings that I am currently writing in my user space? I really don't know what to do with it, but if you were willing to help me with it, that would be great! If no one thinks it is worth it, I will just get rid of it. Pop on over if you want. - LA @ 06:29, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Ramsdell Theatre
Thanks for all your help. BTW, just put the new article Ramsdell Theatre up and submitted for DYK. Happy Cinco de Mayo! --Doug talk 12:37, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
Hi, Thanks for your message of support. I guess I should know better than to do a lot repetitive type edits late at night. It seems to trigger profiling programs. Anyway, I can laugh about it now. Anyway I'm learning a lot doing the tables and Elkman's programs do the hard work. ONE DYK for instance is there are 5 Round Barns on the NRHP and they're all in Ohio. Again thanks and best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 02:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, thank goodness for Elkman! I'd been planning to table-ize Florida, and when I realized he had that lovely program set up, I had at. There's some things I have to tweak, b/c I'm so OCD. Mostly the addresses; I don't like the abbrevs. So I have to change Ave to Avenue and Rd to Road and so on. St and Dr are tricky, since they can also be short for Saint and Doctor (respectively). Oh, and the state abbrevs don't always work. That's why I make sure to change the FL's to Florida. Did the same with Oh to Ohio. We are the nuts, aint' we? :) Keep up the good work!
- I thought there were Round Barns in Illinois too. I know Ivo was working on some a while back. Maybe it was the Ohio ones... --Ebyabe (talk) 02:47, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, there is. Check Round barn, which Ivo did a lot of his usual excellently referenced work. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 02:50, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
User:Duplicated...
...is now blocked. [1] As Wknight94 had told me some time back, the WP:AIV page is constantly being watched, and if a complaint has merit, they will block the offender. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:49, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Goodie! I was hoping for that. We'll see if he comes around with another identity and tries again, like Ron. But at least Ron would respond (in his own wacky way) to warnings and blocks. This guy just kept doing the same edits, ignoring anything else. Good riddance, I say. Now, back to something more productive, like table-izing List of Registered Historic Places in Florida! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 22:16, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
WP:HAU
Hello again. The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. I attempted to translate the data from the old version to the new, but with the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again. Useight (talk) 04:18, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Ron?
Hard to say if it's him, but much of this material is (1) unsourced and (2) reads like it was lifted from someplace. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 22:52, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Kudos
Congrats on table-izing the Florida NRHP list. You did most of the work. I wonder if it's the first state to be finished or at least the first big one. It's probably the only one with no links. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 18:45, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- Credit where credit is due. I try not to be a complete attention whore, taking credit for others work. Only a partial attention whore. :)
- I think it is the first to be finished. And no redlinks for sure. Maybe the one with the most photos? At least you can really see that. And yeah to both of us, doncha know. :)
- Btw, are you photographic? I now can see that Martin County is one of the ones with no pictures. So if you (or anyone you know) could get photos to fill in the gaps, it would be terrif. 'Cause I think it'll be a while before I can get down there. Best wishes and all! --Ebyabe (talk) 18:49, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks!
Hey, thanks for classifying that NRHP article. :) I know it's a stub... there isn't a lot to say about it. I'll try to visit the museum when it's actually open so I can get some more information to put online. I mean, in addition to my own edification. ;) Chrissypan (talk) 03:14, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Also, your user page is great. Mine needs some work. Do you mind if I borrow some of your code to improve mine at some point? Chrissypan (talk) 15:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Feel free to borrow. Much of the stuff there I borrowed myself, so it's all good. :)
- Assessment not a prob. I'm sort of the unofficial NRHP assessor, and noticed that the unassessed article count had gotten high (over 40, I think), so I had at. Don't be afraid to assess your own article. I did a lot of the ones on List of Registered Historic Places in Florida, and knew they were stubs, so assessed them as such. Higher than that can be iffy, though. That's why I did the easy ones first. The ones left are start or B, but am still debating with myself as to which ones are which. Anyhoo, welcome aboard, and above all, have fun. And if you've not already, make some time for photo-taking roadtrips. It's neat to actually see the stuff we're writing about, doncha know. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 23:40, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Sports facilities
Hi, Ebyabe. I am attempting to revive WP:WikiProject Sports facilities and noticed that you were the creator of Category:WikiProject Sports facilities articles I want to invite you stop back by the project and participate in getting things going, again. Best wishes. --Gwguffey (talk) 04:53, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
