Easytronic is a type of transmission or gearbox used in some Opel / Vauxhall cars.
In a specific sense, "Easytronic" is not a Tiptronic type gearbox, as it does not use a torque converter nor a similar gear selector with the P-R-N-D-+/- layout. It is basically a conventional manual transmission, with a single-plate dry clutch. However, the whole clutch and gearbox is electronically controlled, with a computerised ECU. It therefore operates in virtually the same way as a modern conventional automatic transmission, including the use of Tiptronic-like manual selection of the gear ratios by the driver.
The Easytronic is generally used in smaller modern front-wheel drive cars, including the Corsa and Astra.
