East of Ipswich

East of Ipswich was a BBC television drama from 1987 written by Michael Palin, based on his own memories of dreary holidays in English coastal towns in the 1950's.
The plot revolves around Richard, a seventeen year-old only boy, and his rebellious holiday romances in Southwold, Suffolk, leading to his sexual initiation by a promiscuous Dutch girl named Anna.
It starred Edward Rawle-Hicks as Richard, Joan Sanderson as the overbearing landlady of a guest house , John Nettleton as Richard's father, Janine Hinchley as Anna, and Janine Duvitski.
