They run Divisional Council Meetings each month, send out newsletters each month and hold Training Conferences. East Lake's division is Division 12 which consists of 11, and soon to be 12. Derek will take on the responsibilities of all these schools and acts as the president of the division and all schools. His term will end April 2009 at District Convention and be elected once again in February at the Regional Rally. Eagle Eye News is East Lake High School's television news program founded in 2003. The program started airing 10-minute-long pre-recorded newscasts once a week, then twice a week, and now airs live every day of the week with the exception of Wednesday (pre-recorded) on CCTV channel 5. It is entirely volunteer-driven, student-run with the exception of a faculty sponsor. In the fall of 2007 East Lake High School will offer a television production class. Unlike other similar programs in Pinellas County, Eagle Eye News receives funding mainly through donations and the school's library fund.
