East Delhi

East Delhi is an administrative district of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in India.

East Delhi is bounded by the Yamuna River on the west, North East Delhi to the north, Ghaziabad District of Uttar Pradesh state to the east, Gautam Buddha Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh to the southeast, and Central Delhi, New Delhi, and South Delhi to the west across the Yamuna.

East Delhi has a population of 1,448,770 (2001 census), and an area of 640 km², with a population density of 22,638 persons per km².

Administratively, the district is divided into three subdivisions, Gandhi Nagar, Preet Vihar, and Vivek Vihar.
