[edit] Single Cover

is there one out yet?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dinoj45 (talkcontribs) 02:15, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Does it not seem a little odd that this single is due to be released a mere 15 days after "Now That You Got It"? Perhaps more sources should be listed... Not knocking Billboard, but still, it's just odd to release two singles so close together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.114.178.75 (talk) 12:58, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Nah, its not odd, Nelly Furtado done heeps of times, so has Beyonce, and Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland. So its not that odd. Explode24 8:41, 13 August 2007 (UTC) (Australian time)

[edit] Redirect

I've been bold and redirected the article to The Sweet Escape. The Billboard page lists the single as being released on October 1, 2007, but I can't see any evidence that it was released, and if the Billboard article cannot be relied upon, we have no way of telling that "Early Winter" will be released as a single. Some users have changed the release date to November 2007, but there's been no reference that that's true either. If the song is indeed released as a single, we can always revert back to how the article used to look, especially since there are no non-free images that'll be deleted as orphans. 17Drew 01:48, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

The single has started charting, as you can see in Bulgaria. And as far as i remember, only singles with a catalogue number can be allowed to chart. If my explanation is strong enough, i will be bold enough to put back the article. Indianescence 05:14, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
If that's true for the Bulgarian Singles Chart, that's awesome. I thought it was the Romanian Singles Chart though. Regardless, I've seen songs not released as singles chart before, so we need to make sure that there's a source that the Bulgarian Singles Chart only includes songs released as singles. 17Drew 06:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I feel that a site like Billboard wont take the risk of putting false info on their site without the permission of Interscope/Polydor. Billboard ain't a fan site, so why will Billboard be particularly interested in putting info that Early Winter is the 5th single. Indianescence 06:40, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
No idea, maybe an accidental error. But there's no sign that the single was actually released in the U.S. 17Drew 06:46, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
The single is being sold. Have a look. http://srch.biggerboat.com/search/ext?user=BBD00001&category=popular_music&amgid=R%20%201206981 Indianescence 06:49, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
It looks like the contents of that site are mirrored from All Music Guide, which is the same place where Billboard gets much of its content. 17Drew 06:52, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
If we can't trust Billboard/All Music Guide, then the only thing left for us is Interscope.com, which lists the single's name only when it's video is released. So it's a long way to go. But one thing we have to notice. Billboard mentions it as a single, and the song charts in Bulgaria. Such a coincidence is not digestable for me. Indianescence 06:59, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
[outdent] I agree that something weird's going on. But the one source that definitively said it'll be a single appears to be false, so we need a reliable source saying it will be a single to have an article on it. 17Drew 07:36, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I didn't get one thing. Billboard says that the song will be (now is) a single. You said "but I can't see any evidence that it was released". What kind of evidences we get after a single is released? The most obvious thing i could think of is that it starts charting, which the song is doing. What kind of evidences are you looking for? Indianescence 12:10, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Guys, I think its a single because if its Charting in Europe then that means its a single. Maybe it will only be released in Europe as the 4th single and Now That You Got It is the 4th for the UK,USA, and Australia and stuff. Or its the 5th single for Europe only. Because Nelly Furtado has done it like a hundred times she released like nearly all of her album but just in diffrent parts of the world. BatterBean 22:15, 20 Ocotober 2007 (UTC)
As Drew said, songs have charted in history without being released as a single. Our very own "The Sweet Escape (song)" started charting months before release. Linkin Park's Bleed It Out was on the charts before it's release. There are songs which chart but then are not released as single. This is because, all the songs of the album can be purchased individualy through the new concept of Digital Downloads. When they are downloaded a lot, they start charting. So it doesn't matter if a song is a single or not for it to chart. Indianescence 12:29, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
In response to your earlier comment, the most obvious sign that a song has been released as a single is that the single exists and is available for purchase. So far as I can tell, none of the online stores are carrying it, and I think I saw a few (unreliable) sites saying that "Now That You Got It" had been released but not "Early Winter". 17Drew 18:43, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
If we see it that way, then nowdays every song of the album is up for sale. Have a look here [1]. Those days of only singles getting sold are gone. Indianescence 07:23, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I guess its a single now, because there a video being made for it. BatterBean 18:38, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Guys, umm, found this and its Gwen's 5th single. Link Its a video and Gwen anouces that she made the video for it. So yeahh WATCH IT!!! BatterBean 18:49, 23 October 2007
she never said in that video she was talking about early winter. she never said it was a video for a single either. she said that she was looking out her hotel window and decided to make a video. like just a random thing with her friends or production team. i doubt she was talking about this. Now that you got it was released on october 1st, its probably just a type or error. i havnt seen any proof of this as a single (i live in europe). its probably just charted through downloading, lost of non released songs do that in europe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.207.143.179 (talk) 18:44, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Genre

I know this is a pop rock song. Is it an indie rock song too? It sound like it. Who thinks? Charmed36 (talk) 17:30, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chart Positions

Okay, we need a quality check on some of these. Many of them seem to be independent or radio stations. Like Lithuania (is that radio station the official chart?). Same for Luxembourg.

In addition, don't hate me - I just wanna state this for the record, that is NOT the official singles chart of Germany. (http://www.mediatraffic.de/german-tracks.htm) It says, conviently in German, at the bottom of the page that the chart is INDEPENDENT. NRS11 (talk) 03:39, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] US Release (Promotion)

I think Early Winter didn't released in America. It hasn't sent to the radio yet and we cannot find Early Winter (single) in iTune. Also, the Amazon one is only the import version from Germeny, but not American version. So can we consider it hasn't released in US? Ckam (talk) 14:58, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
