I removed the following:

begin quote

[edit] Neighbours in paradise

Perhaps the earliest reflection of this principle is in the Qur'an itself, where the requirement to enter paradise is stated as to "be a friend to three neighours." This requirement is inflexible and there is no amount of charity or charitable duty ("zakat"), piety, or other good works that can make up for failing in this respect. There is no equivalent requirement in any other major religion, and this has led some to observe that neighbourliness has a moral status among Muslims that is akin to that of forgiveness among Christians.

end quote

because I've searched various translations of the Qur'an extensively and am unable to find anything remotely resembling this—and besides, Muslim theology recognizes numerous other requirements for salvation, the most important of which is, as I understand it, faith in Allah. Then, too, who are these "some" (besides, oh, the most often cited sources in Wikipedia? :) who have equated the two virtues?

Also this article seems full of highly original linkages and suppositions intended to promote a particular thesis; it could certainly do with attention from an editor without such an obvious agenda. . . —Charles P. (Mirv) 06:24, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Definition

The article should (as with all WP articles) define what the term means and then talk about it. MP (talk) 14:22, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
