Talk:Earl of Pembroke

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article incorporates text from the Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition, now in the public domain.

Some of the pages appear to be muddled up. The link "William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke (1423-1469)" goes to the same page as the "William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke (1506-1570)" link. Not sure how that gets fixed. Is there a page for the 1st William (1423-1468)?

What is the blazon of the tenth creation?

As the picture is black and white it's somewhat tricky but it looks like: per pale azure and gules three lions rampant Or armed and langued counterchanged azure and gules.
The supporters appear to be a lion rampant gardant or and a leopard spotted sable and azure.(?) They are both gorged with a duke's coronet which is coloured (counterchanged again probably) The crest on a wreath of (argent and azure ?) a wyvern rampant proper (?) [edit] Biographies

Since all the biographical information on the major figures here have their own entries, what is the point of listing them all again? I understand that this is a Brittanica article, but if nobody objects I'll chop it down a bit, putting the useful bits in the appropriate places and making this page a bit slimmer. I think the most infos dates from the time, when several earls have'nt had their own articles - so this article here was only a assembly point. Mainly the text should reflect the history of the title, the origin of the creations and naturally short notices of the more important holders - said briefly: yes, in my opinion, a little bit tidying would be sensible.
