- Admiral Michael Mullen, USN, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
- Admiral Timothy J. Keating, USN, Commander United States Pacific Command
The occasion was the AUSMIN (Australia-US Ministerial) alliance talks, which were headed by Australia's Minister of Defence Joel Fitzgibbon and Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith. Side talks were held by the US military staffs with their Australian Defence Force counterparts.
