dwp49423 is the online alter ego of David Wayne Prins, a resident of Holland, Michigan. The nickname is a combination of Dave's initials and one of Holland's zip codes, 49423, which covers the area south of Lake Macatawa, where Dave lives.

The nickname was created in 1998 when Dave wanted to use his initials for an eBay login. dwp was taken and the suggested varation was dwp49.

Born in 1974, Dave has lived in Holland nearly all of his life. (the exception being 9 months in near by Zeeland from August 1999 to May 2000.) A 1993 graduate of Holland High School, Dave was active in yearbook, the school paper and served as a tutor in one of the school's computer labs.

He also volunteered at the local public access television station and became active in amateur radio in 1992 under the call sign N8UJH.

An assistant principal at Holland High recommended Dave for Wolverine Boys State, the Michigan version of Boys State, sponsored by the American Legion.

Once he graduated from Holland High, Dave attended Grand Valley State University intending to major in broadcast engineering. A professor's rude comment about public access people thinking they've got what it takes to work at a broadcast station prompted Dave to reconsider his minor in computer science for a major.

After much red tape from the department chair and no help from his advisor, Dave finally earned his Bachellor's degree in Information Systems in 2000.

He is webmaster of his church, Trinity Reformed Church and freelances webpage design in addition to his regular job in retail.

He and his wife Denise (whom he met at GVSU) live in Holland with their two children.
