The picture shows a young plant bought from a garden center and was labelled musa 'bananarama'.

The Dwarf Cavendish Banana is a cultivar descended from the banana of commercial produce, the Cavendish. They are often grown as houseplants and produce slightly smaller edible bananas than the Cavendish.^{[citation needed]} This plant has been genetically modified to be able to flower indoors. The fruit tastes like banana ice-cream^{[citation needed]} and grows in large numbers. Young plants have maroon or purple blotches on their leaves but quickly lose them as they mature. Musa 'tropicana' and 'novak' are similar.
