Dutch Hill (Altoona)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dutch Hill is a district of Altoona that overlooks most of the city's downtown urban core. The boundaries of Dutch Hill are the downtown, the so-called "East End", the Pleasant Valley area, and the Llyswen district.
Dutch Hill is a corruption of Deutsch Hill, a part of Altoona initially settled primarily by Germans. This part of Altoona contains many elements of traditional neighborhoods; houses close together, neighborhood corner stores, small parks, and curbside parking with many homes having a detached garage in the alley behind their house.
Some notable features of this neighborhood include a view of the downtown, easy access to both the downtown and Interstate 99, and it contains part of the Altoona Area School District campus.
