"The need for a protective polymer arose due to the fact that Blu-Ray discs write much closer to the readable portion of a disc than do other disc formats, including HD DVD."
This sentence is not true. Durabis existed prior to blu ray and has been used on other products. My source is the link already provided in the source section of this article.
