William Cookworthy

Good to hear from you. I have only got the Barton Bradford book. I'm looking at ODNB - Silvanus Bevan and Daniel Quare at present. To bed soon. Best Vernon White . . . Talk 01:11, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Cookworthy's mother, Edith, was a Debell, as was the second wife of George Fox of Par, Anna, whose children founded two Fox dynasties in Falmouth. The Cookworthys and the Foxes both intermarried with the Weres of Wellington, Somerset, Worsted manufacturers. James Fox says that he is related to about half the people in Milligan's Biographical dictionary of British Quakers in commerce and industry. Vernon White . . . Talk 11:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Babington

William Babington (physician) article needs improvement and might interest you (mineralogist). Best Vernon White . . . Talk 16:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I added a tiny amount there. Google Books has a number of Babbington items, as you probably know. -- Astrochemist (talk) 12:33, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Your user page

I just now saw the curt comment on your user page. Wikipedia does indeed have some challenges ahead. Unless they are faced and solved I foresee lots of people who contribute hard, solid content simply dropping out. You can check my user page for my own slant on this. -- I suppose one can push for administrative rights, but my impression is that a lot of admins have to spend much of their time on policy and don't have much left to contribute content. -- It would be a shame to lose someone, such as yourself, who appears to have knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability. -- Astrochemist (talk) 12:33, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:German search result.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:German search result.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:35, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

How bizarre - a fair use image of a Wikipedia page used on the Wikipedia Villiage Pump to illustrate a Wikipedia feature is not allowed, so is delinked and then proposed for deletion as orphaned. DuncanHill (talk) 17:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I need your help

Please send to markcambrone(at)yahoo(dot)com a link to contact an administrator to set my e-mail as a preference to my currently inaccesible wikipedia account of User:Markcambrone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.118.165.26 (talk) 03:00, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't know who would be able to do this, but the policy I quoted is at [1], you may have better luck trying there. Sorry I can't be of more help. DuncanHill (talk) 03:08, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

William Lawrence

It may be some time before I stop kicking myself for not seeing the duplication earlier. I did check... Anyway, now we're here I'd like to see the merger take place with the minimum of loss. Some first thoughts:

What are your grounds for thinking he sued before the Lord C. made his decision? I have seen no source saying this. My sources support the version I gave. And, if the Lord C gave no copyright, it is perhaps not quite accurate to say the book was pirated; the term is equivocal.

Your comments on various pages

I thank you for being polite -unlike others but to suggest I am the same others by "seen him before" is not correct. This is not much of a welcome, it is no sort of encouragement. To suggest I am connected because I use BT - the biggest ISP in the country - is crazy! FYI I've only just changed ISP having previously been on Tiscali. I have only just started using Wikipedia. I am only just learning the ropes but I thought there was something in Wikipedia about assuming good faith and helping necomers & not attacking them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.171.112 (talk) 21:34, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
