[edit] 3-inch guns not ?

The gun officially known as "3 inch" was introduced 1914 - it was the QF 3 inch 20 cwt gun, and was intended for high-angle fire originally against balloons and airships. The guns available in 1901 would have been the QF 12 pounder 12 cwt and QF 12 pounder 18 cwt. While they were also of "3 inch" bore, they were known as 12 pounders.Rcbutcher (talk) 13:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
