Duncan Riley (born September 4, 1975) is a blogger and former Vice President of b5media which he founded along with Darren Rowse, Jeremy Wright and was later joined by Shai Coggins. In February 2008, he and his family moved from Australind, Western Australia, to Melbourne, Australia[1].

Born in Sydney, Australia, Riley is a pioneer in Australian politics on the internet writing for a branch of a political party in Australia in 1995, and going on later that year to write the now defunct Australian Conservative Politics portal, the first conservative aggregate political site in Australia.

In 1999, he authored the website Young Australians Against this Republic, in conjunction with a number of political and social groups within Australia.

In 2002, he launched The Blog Herald. In 2006, Duncan sold The Blog Herald to BlogMedia, Inc., which subsequently sold the site to Splashpress Media.

In 2005, he launched web log network Weblog Empire, which later was joined into blogging network b5media, a company founded by Riley along with Pro Bloggers Darren Rowse and Jeremy Wright. In November 2006, Duncan left to b5media[2] to pursue personal projects after a split occurred between the founders. Weblog Empire was later relaunched as a blog linking service. In April 2006, Weblog Empire was sold to an as-yet undisclosed buyer.

Riley joined the pool of bloggers at Internet products and company review siteTechCrunch in May 2007, while based in Western Australia.

In May 2008, Riley announced his resignation from TechCrunch[3] to pursue his own start up The Inquisitr, a site he says will allow him more freedom to offer opinions on web and technology[4].

Lead TechCrunch blogger Michael Arrington, announcing Riley's departure described Riley as a Giant of world tech blogging. [5]

In his final post for TechCrunch, Riley indicated he may still post occasionally for TechCrunch. [6]

Riley podcasts for The Podcast Network with a show On The Pod and is also preparing an internet radio station based on The Podcast Network content.
