In Kintyre, Scotland, at Dunaverty Castle in 1647, after the Battle of Rhunahaorine Moss, the remaining men of MacDonald's army surrendered at Dunaverty after a siege and were killed, nearly to the man, by the Covenanters under General David Leslie. Though this site had been a fortification for nearly 1000 years, the castle was destroyed after the battle and little remains at the site.
