Duke of York's Headquarters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Duke of York's Headquarters is a complex of buildings designed by architects Paul Davis + Partners in Chelsea in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, England, which was originally a military barracks.
Units based there, or with detachments there, included:
- 10th Battalion, Parachute Regiment (TA)
- 23 Special Air Service (TA)
- London District Specialist Training Team (TA)
The site was sold to Cadogan Estates by the Ministry of Defence, with initial proceeds of £66 million received in 2000 and a further £28 million when the site was vacated in 2003. [1] Cadogan has redeveloped the site with Paul Davis + Partners as upmarket housing and retail outlets, and also let part of it as new premises for the Saatchi Gallery, which is scheduled to relocate in early 2008.
