This company was owned by Patrick Laurent until March 2004 when it was sold to a joint venture led by Advent Mexico. This Worldwide company owns stores in airports, train stations, ports, airlines and cruise ships.

In February 2006 Dufry bought Brasif, the major duty free company in Brazil for more than 500 millions US Dollars and in December 2006 acquired all the Duty Frees in Puerto Rico for 158 million dolars.
