Duane Swierczynski is an American crime writer, having written six non-fiction books, including This Here’s A Stick-Up: The Big Bad Book Of American Bank Robbery (Alpha, 2002) and The Big Book O’ Beer (Quirk, 2004). He’s worked as an editor at Men’s Health, Details and Philadelphia magazines including currently editing the Philadelphia City Paper. He also now teaches journalism at La Salle University. Secret Dead Men, Swierczynski’s crime fiction debut, was published in 2005 by PointBlank and has since written three further novels.

Recently he has penned two one-shot comics for Marvel Comics, namely Moon Knight: Annual #1 and Punisher: Force Of Nature, and is writing the new ongoing Cable title.

Duane Swierczynski is a founding partner of The Liars Club, a networking group of professional in publishing and other aspects of entertainment that includes Gregory Frost, Leslie Esdaile Banks, Jon McGoran, Jonathan Maberry, Ed Pettit, Laura Schrock, William Lashner and Kelly Simmons.

  • “Swierczynski” loosely translates into “dweller near a fir tree.”
  • Duane and his brother Gregg were named after the Allman Brothers
  • Duane’s mother actually got a shorter name by marrying his father. (Her maiden name was “Wojciechowski.”)
  • Duane named his first-born son “Parker” in honor of the Richard Stark character and Spiderman (Peter Parker).[1]
