[edit] Summary

Description

Wurlitzer 3500 "Zodiac" Juke-box from 1971. Close-up of the carrousel mechanism. On the left you can see the disc carrousel, holding 100 45 RPM discs. On the right you have the turntable itself. Through a clever mechanical arm, the arm pick the record up, pull it out of the carrousel, rotate it to the chosen side and gently depose it on the turntable, then the play arm comes to the edge to start playback. Once the playback is over, the play arm pull itself out of the way, the mechanical arm grips the disc and put it back to its slot. There is also a small brush in the way of the arm that cleans the stylus before and after playing. On the carousel, there is a small mechanical counter on every disc holder, so the operator can see which disc is popular.
