Probably not that significant. They were a fine group, but they were well after "Athens" happened and were at the center of the scene for a relatively short time. They did get signed by a major record label, and they had a video that got some airplay on MTV, but, compared to their contemporaries, they didn't really manage to be terribly successful. If you're talking about Athens, GA Inside and Out, it would be a huge mistake to assume that inclusion there signified much besides the film makers knowing and liking them. I was there and a working musician and "rival" at the time, and it's simply empirically true that many of the acts in that film were tiny figures. The Barbecue Killers? Nah. Flat Duo Jets? Dexter was everywhere, and he was personally at every scene you could think of, but the band itself wasn't really very instrumental or influential. Again, I'm not trying to say the band was nobody or nowhere. They were good, and they had some success, but they were hardly Pylon or even Driv'n and Cry'n in terms of being important hubs of the scene. I.e. were they a band that other bands all knew and were members of? Nah. Were they an unofficial houseband? Nah. Were they somewhat aloof from the locals? Yeah. Geogre 12:36, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, Love Tractor has the best claim to being the center of Athens, along with Pylon (what with the "Hornets Attack Victor Mature's Face" (REM + Love Tractor) and "Wheel of Cheese" (Love Tractor switching instruments, plus Jack Heard/Thomas Dolby (secretly)) stuff), but Dreams So Real were.... It's hard to explain. They really kept to themselves and moved away from the local scene as quickly as they could. They appeared very quickly with that sound and then kind of disappeared just as quickly. I have no doubt that a good article can be made. I only objected to "significant part of the scene." They were a significant band, but not really significant to the scene. At least they were actually from Athens, unlike a number of other "Athens" bands (Guadalcanal Diary and Indigo Girls, e.g.). I now see that the problem is with the embedded link. I'll risk an easter egg to make the lead sentence a bit more neutral. Again, no quarrel with the band. I met them. They were nice guys. No quarrel with their album being successful. I just don't recall their being particularly central to the "scene," such as there was one. Geogre 00:55, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and if anyone wants a list of unsung Athens bands from 81-90, I can provide a few that still haven't got articles. It's just that we really need to pass WP:MUSIC (and these guys do), while Pylon never recorded on a major label (by design) and yet were so much the heart of Athens as to be absolutely the most important independent label band in history, just about.
