[edit] NZ or NZ / Oz Band?

The Lead of the article formerly stated that Dragon are a New Zealand / Australian band. It now shows that they are a NZ band. I intend changing this back to NZ / Oz: I believe it better reflects their actual status.

My reasons include:

  1. Whilst they formed in NZ in November 1972, since mid-1975 Dragon has been based in Sydney Australia. Subsequently band members have been from NZ, Oz, UK, & USA.
  2. In 1977 they were described as "Australia's number one band" (see Dragon's Official website).
  3. They achieved their first notable successes in Australia under record producer Peter Dawkins.e.g. "April Sun in Cuba" was their first chart appearance on NZ singles charts in 1978. "This Time" had charted in Oz in 1976.
  4. Most recent version reformed in 2006 in Sydney.
  5. I'n NOT claiming they are an Oz band, just that the Oz part is significant enough to be in the Lead alongside the NZ part.

For the above reasons, I am changing the Lead back to NZ / Oz.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:35, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Seems that the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) agree with the above: Dragon are due to be inducted into ARIA Hall of Fame on 1 July 2008. Since one of the criteria is about members being Australian they must be at least NZ /Oz! See Lead of current article for refs.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:34, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed major editing

In line with their ARIA Hall of Fame induction later in 2008, I intend trying to get this article up to B-class. I will be starting with re-writing the Lead and then reorganising the sections and sub-sections a bit more. I will attempt to supply verifiable refs and keep a NPOV tone.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I've had a go at getting this article up to B-class. It could be further improved by a good photo, more discussion of their impact on other groups and better information on NZ chart positions.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:51, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
