The Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research is a British biomedical research charity, founded in 1970.[1][2] It funds[2] peer-reviewed alternatives to animal testing in relation to health issues such as cancer, heart disease, meningitis, and Alzheimer's disease.[3] Its chief scientific advisor is Dr. Gill Langley.
The Trust's publications include a mail-order gift catalogue, e-newsletters, brochures and an Alternative News magazine for supporters.
Over 200 papers about the Trust's work have been published in scientific journals. Trust researchers have cultured human cartilage, which helped to show how arthritis drugs work; developed a three-dimensional model of human teeth and jawbone for dental research; created a computer model of a human fetus; and used mathematical modeling to create drug treatment for non-Hodgkins lymphoma and neuroblastoma.[3]
