The Dr. Croke Cup is an inter-county GAA competition in hurling. The first Croke Cups (which included Hurling and Gaelic Football) took place between 1896 and 1915. Clare was the first winner of the Dr Croke Cup for Hurling in 1896. In 1909 Ulster were expelled from the Dr. Croke Cup because of "bad gates" but the decision was later rescinded. For the second year in a row De La Salle College Waterford have captured the Dr. Croke Cup, this years final was held at Nolan Park Kilkenny. The match was sent to a replay after both teams had drawn the first match. The losing team in the replay were Thurles CBS. De La Salle were guided to victory under the managment of Derek Mc Grath, Dermot Dooley, Michael Murphy and Nicky Quinlan. De La Salle were captained by Philip Mahony and Noel Connors.
