Summary
Written by Ron Prichard, course restorer: The first of an unmatched set of par 5's (Hole #2) begins on the elevated shoreline of the lake which once covered Chicago. The fairway sweeps to the players left and runs north to a double tiered green. After a modest start, this hole requires strength, accuracy, and a careful shot selection in order to pitch or chip to a pin located on the double tiered green. The upper tier is small and difficult to reach and the bottom tier is riddled with deceptive breaks.

This hole has been returned to its early Ross glory with a re-designed green and a lovely cross bunker in the middle of the fairway about eighty yards from the green. The second shot is to a smallish, two-tiered green with a collection area at the middle-left section and out of bounds left of the green. A straight forward, but challenging par 3 with a slightly elevated tee shot to a green that is tucked into the corner of the golf course, with out of bounds on either side. A huge oak tree short and left of the green hangs precariously over the left side, preventing direct access to left hole locations. A grand, sweeping dogleg right that ends with a magnificent clubhouse view, demanding a long tee shot favoring the left side of the fairway. If all is well after the second shot, the player faces a short iron into the huge green, which has obvious back-to-front slope, but plenty of undetectable breaks toward the railroad tracks.
