Doug Everingham

Douglas Nixon "Doug" Everingham (born 25 June 1923) is a former Australian politician and minister.
Everingham graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sydney in 1946 and worked in public and private hospitals and as a family doctor.[1]
Everingham was elected the Australian Labor Party member for the House of Representatives seat of Capricornia at a by-election in 1967. He was defeated at the 1975 election by Colin Carige, whom he subsequently defeated at the 1977 election and remained the local member until his retirement at the 1984 election. He was Minister for Health from November 1972 until the dismissal of the Whitlam government in November 1975.[2]
