Pierce has been approved by a studio, his film should be out late 2007 to early 2008. - your explanation for removing prods.

What studio? I assume you have a reliable source for this. If not, I guess the articles will have to go to articles for deletion for discussion. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. --Onorem 14:47, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I do have a reliable source. Matt Pierce is a good friend to the family and has been working in the industry as along as I've known him, he started out working at the News Room and then he did commercials for the stores in town. - from my talk page.

That is not a reliable source. It is a primary source. Wikipedia articles may use primary sources only if they have been published by a reliable publisher. He's 16...seriously, how involved in the industry is he. How much has he done in the News Room and commercials?
Any local newspaper articles about him? Anything written about what he has done in the News Room or commercials anywhere? If this information is true, it's probably better to wait until it can be referenced to write the article. --Onorem 15:02, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Both articles need to be sourced. The guidelines for notability from Wikipedia:Notability (people) say:

See also Wikipedia:Importance, which attempts to be a generic, all inclusive definition of criteria for inclusion.

  • The person has been the primary subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the person.
    • This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, magazine articles, books, scholarly papers, and television documentaries except for the following:
      • Media reprints of the person's autobiography or self-promotional works.
      • Works carrying merely trivial coverage, such as newspaper articles that just mention the person in passing, telephone directory listings, or simple records of births and deaths.
  • The person made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field.
  • Political figures holding or who have held international, national or statewide/provincewide office, and members and former members of a national, state or provincial legislature. (For candidates for office, see the ongoing discussion at Wikipedia:Candidates and elections.)
  • Major local political figures who receive (or received) significant press coverage. Just being an elected local official does not guarantee notability.
  • Widely recognized entertainment personalities and opinion makers (e.g., - Hollywood Walk of Fame)
  • Sportspeople/athletes/competitors who have played in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, or at the highest level in mainly amateur sports or other competitive activities that are themselves considered notable, including college sports in the United States. Articles about first team squad members who have not made a first team appearance may also be appropriate, but only if the individual is at a club of sufficient stature that most members of its squad are worthy of articles. Third party verification from a non-trivial publication outside of publications by sponsors of the sport or activity should be provided to demonstrate that the subject is widely recognized—meeting the first criteria—as performing in a fully professional league or at the highest level.
  • Notable actors and television personalities who have appeared in well-known films or television productions. Notability can be determined by:
    • Multiple features in popular culture publications such as Vogue, GQ, Elle, FHM or national newspapers
    • A large fan base, fan listing or "cult" following
    • An independent biography
    • Name recognition
    • Commercial endorsements
  • Published authors, editors and photographers who received multiple independent reviews of or awards for their work

It sounds like Mr. Pierce has led a very interesting life so far, and I hope for all the best for him. As written now, I just don't see a claim for notability based on what he's done so far. --Onorem 16:31, 17 November 2006 (UTC)


I just wanted to clarify that I'm not an admin or anyone in any position of power here. I'm just a regular editor. The most I can do about these articles at this point is ask other people to also look and give their opinions about the article at articles for deletion. What I've listed above is only a guideline to notability and not policy, so it's not always enforced 100%...but it is fairly uncommon for an article to pass an AfD if it doesn't meet the guidelines.

If the articles are deleted, please come back and recreate them when more verifiable information is available. It sounds like your friend will have a place here soon. --Onorem 16:48, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

It's generally considered wrong to prod an article after a prod tag has been removed from it. If I were to try to have it deleted, I'd have to list it on AfD and let discussion go for 5 days. If you truly want to go ahead and have the articles deleted, you can place {{db-author}} at the top of the article. Either way is fine with me. I'll check back later this afternoon. Don't have time to get the AfD stuff set up right now. Sorry about being a grinch, but articles without sources put up kind of a red flag for me... --Onorem 17:02, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
