[edit] History

The building had been empty for twelve years and was stripped of wires and pipes. The squatters renovated the derelict six story building themselves, funding the venture in part by renting it out as a photography location for $500 a day.[2]

[edit] Eviction

The eviction took place on April 27, 1999 and was resisted by the squatters. Thirteen people were arrested and charged with obstruction of government administration.[3]
