- I have created a redirect at Deborah Glasgow, as I believe it was your intent to do, to Deborahe Glasgow as this is the spelling listed at allmusic.com. The current article on Deborahe Glasgow needs a little work in terms of additional verifiability and in maintaining our required neutral tone. Thank you for your contributions. --Moonriddengirl 20:42, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Deborahe Glasgow
I received your note. :) I'm glad if my comments were beneficial to you in some way. I know that beginning work on Wikipedia can be a little daunting. There are a lot of procedures to learn. Since you contacted me, I've taken a look at the recent state of the article. There are still a few tone issues. As an encyclopedia, we try to present facts, not opinion, so phrases like "one of the finest of England's 'Lovers Rock' singers, a smooth, velvety voiced songstress" need specific attribution from some reputable album review or some such for inclusion. Otherwise, we would write more straightforwardly "Glasgow was an English "lovers rock" singer." Other potential problem phrases I see include "a setting fit for her voice," "the result was sensuous and smooth with top notch singles" and "sweet voiced" for example. All of those phrases are appropriate for record reviews, but not an encyclopedia article. As I also work on articles about albums, I know how difficult skirting that line can be. :) You might want to look at the page of fellow "lovers rock" musician Janet Kay to get an idea of how this article might further be developed. This page at WikiProject Musicians is very long but very thorough in discussing layout and information considered standard in such articles. I'm not familiar with Ms. Glasgow's music. I am a fan of music in general, though, and will have to check into her when I get an opportunity. Good luck with this and future Wikipedia projects. :) --Moonriddengirl 16:26, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well done! You seem to have nailed the neutral tone. The article needs to be wikified (which is our jargon for the way we lay out articles and link to other wikipedia articles) and could stand some more external sources. I'll take a shot at wikifying it in a few minutes (as soon as I finish my current project) and see if I can produce more sources as well. Meanwhile, if you come up with any, do please add them. You've certainly put a lot of work into that one. :) --Moonriddengirl 18:19, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
