[edit] Notability
I am the originator of this article, and I saw a 'Proposed for Deletion' banner on a previous iteration, and was unable to find any discussion or outcome.
I suggest the person that proposed deletion visit this link: [1] for a better view of this woman's remarkable life. She wasn't just the president of the NCNW, she was founder and/or chief executive of numerous organizations and initiatives, nearly all in the hostile climate of the Jim Crow South. She was certainly a pioneer, and attracted the attention of President John F. Kennedy, who appointed her to various commissions and task forces. She served on the boards of the Girl Scouts, the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), and the American Association of University Women (AAUW), all notable organizations. When she died, she was eulogized by then-Secretary of Health and Human Services Patricia Roberts Harris.
I will try to write a more detailed entry that should settle the notability issue, but I just don't have time now. Others have contributed to this article since its origination; maybe one of them will take it up.Carlaclaws (talk) 03:18, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
