Dopey Dick

Dopey Dick (Derry, Northern Ireland) was a killer whale that swam into the River Foyle system in November 1977. The whale was an adult male that entered the river Foyle in pursuit of a late salmon run. It was first spotted by locals and received huge media attention at the time, being hailed as a welcome distraction for everyone one in the then-troubled Derry City.
