World_record_progression_100_m_men claims Leroy Leroy Burrell's 1994 record was 9.85 s. The 9.90 s record is listed as from 1991.

[edit] 100m record

It seems that Maurice Greene holds the current 100m record, achieving 9.79 seconds at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, clearly defeating Bailey's 1996 record.:) —

In fact, Green set that record at a meet in Athens in 1999, he ran 9.87 to win the gold medal in Sydney. Bailey is still the Olympic record holder in the event.

And Jamaica's Asafa Powell and America's Justin Gatlin co-hold the world record at 9.77.
