[edit] Content discussion
This article requires a large amount of expansion. Especially, in relation to Donny's success as ateen idol in th early '70s. Donny was absolutely massive in the UK in 1972 / 1973 and this needs to be emphasised. Osmondmania type fan worship had not been seen in the UK since The Beatles.
The part played by Tony Prince and Radio Luxembourg in the early 70s in introducing Donny and the Osmonds to a Europea audience could also be included.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.31.78.228 (talk • contribs) 2006-05-30 17:26:20.
- I agree! Why don't you add some content? DavidBailey 22:37, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Why does it list a death date?Just curious, since its a date in the future.
[edit] Trivia
Moving the trivia into the article has left the text feeling disjointed, and some of the trivia was removed. I think it would be better to pull these various interesting tidbits back into a trivia or "fun facts" section and leave the narrative for substantial events in chronological order. [edit] White & Nerdy video(s)
Donny appeared for about 30 seconds of footage in Weird Al's "White & Nerdy" video. A bluescreen take ([1]) was released on YouTube about two weeks ago by a user who might be Weird Al ([2]), or at least a representative. The bluescreen take features Donny dancing while Weird Al raps, for the entire duration of the song. Hilarious, to be sure, but would it be appropriate to note this, in this article? (Sorry for my clumsy HTML). -Tim (Littlebluedog 19:20, 8 February 2007 (UTC))
[edit] Jeff Beck's Ambitious video
Donny also appeared briefly in Jeff Beck's 1985 video for "Ambitious." ([3]) In the video, he & many other singers are waiting for an audition to see who gets to sing the lead vocals for the song. When Donny gets to the front of the line, the talent agent at the desk asks him his name & what work he's done lately. Donny thinks for a second & then says, "Well, I used to sing with my brothers and then I sang with this chick named Marie and I also did a few songs on my own..." The talent agent then cuts him off & says "Take a number & have a seat!" It's a pretty funny video & not one you'd expect to see Donny in. It also has a strange cast of celebrities including: Dr Joyce Brothers, Cheech Marin, Parker Stevenson and even Tatoo from Fantasy Island! Oh yeah, You actually do get to watch & hear Donny sing a verse from the song about half way through the video. He sounds pretty good too. - Zach NijhtOwl 23:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Birthdate?
The December 4 page linked to this page, saying his birthday is Dec 4, 1962, but this page lists some other date. I have no idea what his actual birthdate is, but something is clearly wrong on wiki, either this page or rht December 4 page.70.225.216.76 05:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- It was announced on O'Grady's show that donny will be 50 this year so 1957 is correct MotorSportMCMXC 14:58, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Alleged POV edit
"Calling his style "bland" is highly POV." Fair enough, although you also removed the reference to his singular style, which few would dispute or even call POV. 130.156.29.50 14:55, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. "Singular" is not as POV as "bland", but it is still POV, and I really fail to see what it adds to the comment. It reads as a dig at him, IMHO, especially given that it was originally followed by "bland", which is definitely a dig at him. It adds nothing constructive to the fact of his new release. - TexasAndroid 15:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
