Donald Bogue

Donald "Don" Bogue (age 57) is the current Chairman and CEO of Command Audio Corporation, headquartered in Redwood City, California. He has held these positions since he cofounded the company in October 1995 along with Macrovision Corporation. Command Audio Corporation is currently the patent holder for DVR, PVR, and VOD technology which are used to power devices such as TiVo and Sirius Satellite Radio.

Command Audio buys and licenses various US and foreign patents related to the transmission, navigation and playback of stored media for a numerous types of devices and various services. These devices and services enable consumers to receive broadcast programming and store it for playback freely.
Since its founding, Command Audio has led the field with the development of on-demand interactive audio. Its intellectual property includes the broadcast, storage and playback of audio technologies of programming for television (via personal video recorders), radio (including satellite and terrestrial), personal computer and cellular telephone applications.
Command Audio is currently on its third business model, focusing mainly on the medias of television and stored visual technology. In prior models, Don Bogue and his team focused on wireless information and entertainment services for mobile consumers before moving towards broadcast storage applications.[1]

On December 15, 2005, Command Audio settled a two-month long legal battle with Sony Electronics, Inc. The case began when Sony incorporated patent-protected designs into personal video recorders and personal computers with PVR units. According to the agreement, Sony will pay a financial settlement to compensate Command Audio for its lost profits due to their patent infringement as well as sign a royalty-license, good for as long as Command Audio's core PVR patent is registered.[2]

Prior to Command Audio, Don served as CEO and Director at Giga-tronics, a publicly held manufacturer of wireless communications test equipment, and ran the largest divisions of Ampex Corporation, a pioneer in magnetic recording technology and a manufacturer of professional video products and systems. The Ampex Corporation is most famous for leading the way in broadcast delayed of live radio and television through temporary recording and later video recording.[3]

Don Bogue is currently married to Linda Bogue, formerly, Linda Baker, and lives in San Mateo, California. Together, he and his wife have had one daughter. Don and Linda met while studying at Harvard, where Don majored in Economics before graduating as part of the class of 1973. Bogue is a registered Republican and has personally donated $1000 to John McCain presidential campaign, 2008.[4]
