Don Weatherburn

Dr Don Weatherburn has been Director of the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research in Sydney since 1988 and is an Adjunct Professor with the School of Social Science and Policy at the University of New South Wales.
Don Weatherburn was educated at Newington College and the University of Sydney where in 1974 he received his BA with first class honours. He completed a Ph.D in 1979 and lectured in the School of Justice Administration at Charles Sturt University. In 1983 he was appointed Senior Research Officer at the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research and four years later he was appointed Foundation Director of Research at the NSW Judicial Commission. He has held his current position since 1988. He has also published two books: Delinquent-prone Communities (published by Cambridge University Press in 2001) and Law and Order in Australia: Rhetoric and Reality (published by Federation Press in 2004).
