Dolores Cristina is the Minister of Education and Culture of Malta.

Mrs. Cristina graduated Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from the Royal University of Malta in 1971. She held teaching posts in History and English at Secondary and Post-Secondary levels.

Mrs. Cristina first contested the General Elections in 1996. In April 1998, she became mayor of Swieqi, a post of short duration as she was subsequently elected to Parliament from the 10th District following the September General Elections of the same year.
Mrs. Cristina was returned to Parliament from the 9th District following the April 2003 General Elections. She was then appointed by the Prime Minister as Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Social Policy. The special focus of her portfolio was Social Housing and Gender Equality. Following a cabinet reshuffle she was appointed Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity on 23 March 2004. Her portfolio included Social Policy, Family Policy, Child Policy, Solidarity Services, Social Security, Social Housing and Equality.
Following the Maltese General Elections 2008 where the Nationalists won with a narrow margin. Mrs. Cristina was appointed Minister for Education and Culture replacing the unelected former Minister Louis Galea.
