Dog Man Star is the second album by Suede, released by Nude Records in 1994. It was their last album to feature guitarist Bernard Butler, due to growing tensions between Butler and singer Brett Anderson ending with Butler leaving shortly before the album's completion.
At a time when Suede's contemporaries were making pop records, the band unleashed this sprawling, dark, and gloomy record. That, along with Butler's departure, are possible reasons for the lack of chart success for the album and its singles. However, the album is still critically lauded and considered a favourite among fans.
The album is included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.[1]
