Document camera
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Document Cameras or Digital overheads but most commonly referred to as docucams are real-time document scanning devices used in education to simulate overhead projectors. They are in essence, high resolution web cams, mounted on arms so as to facilitate their placement over a page. This allows a teacher to write on a non-transparent sheet of paper while the class observes. They have stirred controversy over their high cost, 500-1000 USD plus the cost of a digital projector 800-2000USD versus optical overhead projectors at 100-200 USD, and the need to re-educate teachers in their operation.
