Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (D.A.O.M.) is the highest degree awarded to practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or other acupuncture traditions in the US. This professional doctoral degree is relatively new in the United States with only three schools accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) to offer the degree. Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR and Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA.

There continues to be heavy debate as to whether an entry-level doctorate degree should become the standard in lieu of the current master's degree programs.
