Dmitri Ivanenko

Dmitri Ivanenko (Russian: Дмитрий Дмитриевич Иваненко) (1904 - 1994) was a Professor of Moscow State University (since 1943), made a great contribution to the physical science of the twentieth century, especially to gravitational physics. He died on 30th December 1994. He was a long-time friend of Lev Landau and George Gamov. Ivanenko and Werner Heisenberg are credited as been the first who suggested that atom nuclei consist of protons and neutrons (1932).
