Doug Mehus (b.May 6, 1983) was, until September 30, 2006, an afternoon on-site manager, office clerk and customer service representative at a busy self storage facility and Uhaul dealership in beautiful Kelowna, B.C. He resigned for professional and administrative reasons. Plus, he desired to pursue new professional career opportunities, as he says he had been working there for over two and a half years. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and writing about technology, politics, mergers and acquisitions, local issues, and general- or human-interest stories. You are encouraged to visit his blog, located at: dmehus.wordpress.com
Born at Kelowna General Hospital to two loving parents on May 6, 1983, he was blessed with bright blue eyes, blonde hair (although, this has darkened considerably in his later adolescent years), and being right-handed. Today, he says he stands approximately 5′ 11″ tall, which is a bit surprising to him that he grew up to be so tall as he was always one of the shorter kids throughout school life when he was forced to kneel in the front row of class pictures, which was usually reserved for “runts”. His ancestral heritage is primarily Norwegian and Irish on his dad’s side of the family and mostly British on his mom’s.
His interests and favourite hobbies include, but are certainly not limited to, working, watching television, blogging, chatting with friends he's met online, doing e-mail, catching up on the latest in world events and business news both online and by reading local newspapers, pets such as his 12-year-old Dalmatian dog named Murphy, surfing the Internet, and writing.
As a leftist liberal with strong democratic socialist values, Doug is always compassionate and caring. Although, his sense of humour is impeccably well developed. Quips Doug, "I'm most proud of my trademark good, clean joke that I made up one day. It goes like this: `What did Speedy Gonzales say as he was laying carpet?' `Underlay! Underlay!'" He is always willing to engage in rigorous political discourse and debate and "will argue until he's blue in the face," he says.
Doug also maintains a blog, which details his contributions to the blogosphere and other random brain farts. It is located here. He enjoys fixing typographical errors on Wikipedia and writing the occasional article.
