[edit] Summary

Post card carried on the last flight of the Zeppelin Airship "Hindenburg" (DLZ129) (The Cooper Collections)

  • This card was meant to be carried on a flight over Germany ("Duetschlandfahrt") on May 1, 1937, which was cancelled so it was instead flown from Frankfurt when the "Hindenburg" took off for the United States on the evening of May 3 and dropped over Cologne. Three days later the airship was destroyed by fire when attempting to land as NAS Lakehurst, NJ.
