[edit] Images under unfree copyrights

There are many images on the English Wikipedia that are under unfree copyright. Under certain conditions we claim that they are "fair use" under U.S. law, even though the infringe copyright. Fair use depends entirely upon the usage. Album covers, for instance, we use in the articles about those albums, but cannot use them simply to show what the band looks like.
